Join one of our Seppeltsfield team for a short estate tour to learn about the founding of Seppeltsfield, including visiting the Seppelt Family Homestead and our iconic Centennial Cellar for a tasting of the 1925 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny.
The tour includes a 10ml tasting of a 100 Year Old Tawny –a once in a lifetime opportunity. 2025 marks the release of the 1925 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny – the 48th consecutive 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny to be released from the historic 1878 Centennial Cellar.
This wine continues the Seppeltsfield tradition of putting down a barrel for release at a 100 years of age, started by Oscar Benno Seppelt in 1878, with each release of the hundred year old wine having aged over 100 Summers and Winters in a traditional oak barrel. A once in a life time bucket list experience! Immerse yourself in the history of Seppeltsfield and taste a wine that bring that history to life!

Big Winery. A big winery, one of the more famous winery. We skipped the wine tasting, but did the Gin tasting, which was good, as usual you pay to taste. Gin can be expensive here, there are a few different varieties here. The host was knowledgeable and good. First time at the Barossa Having never been to the region before we had a beautiful time and we are already planning our next visit. We were travelling to another even so despite it being winter and the grapes dormant it was still so beautiful to drive the roads around the Barossa. The Palm Boulevarde is beautiful around Seppeltsfield Winery is worth a trip and the winery itself is fantastic. We did a wine tasting and cheese tasing which we thoroughly enjoyed, you need to be booked in for this i believe. We had a fantastic tasting experience with Russell yesterday. He was warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable, making the whole experience both informative and enjoyable. What really stood out was his passion and the way he shared the stories behind the wines. A highlight was being shown into the cellar where over 100 years of port is stored—an unforgettable moment. Highly recommend a visit with Russell if you want a truly memorable tasting.

A must visit if you are wine touring South Australia. We booked the Great Terraced Vineyard tour and the Seppeltsfield Fino Signature Experience. The first experience took us through different parts of the estate and vineyard to understand the history and mechanics of winemaking. Our guide was very kind to tailor the wine tasting to be a more academic one that contrasted different vineyards and vintages. The second experience took us to the centennial cellar to taste their 1925 tawny that was directly drawn from the barrel. After that, we enjoyed a long, relaxed, and delicious lunch with wine pairing at Fino. Highly recommended.

It was a recommendation from my sister in-law to my wife that we had to visit here with our friends on this trip. This is definitely a beautiful place, we first had a quick bite and the cafe then attended the wine tasting. Our host was Russell and he was magnificent. After I advised him that I don't drink wine so there was only going to be 3x of us tasting wines, he offered their excellent cordial. So it was just my Mrs and our friends going to taste their wines. Myself together with our friends younger son were going to drink the Cordial. I was impressed. The wine tasting went well, we left with 3x bottles and our friends with 2. One of ours was the Cordial. We will def enjoy this.

Really enjoyed this place. We were there for the fortified. The young man that served us was knowledgeable, very friendly. He really cared about our experience. Took the time to share his knowledge, making sure we had enough information to make an informed purchasing decision. We bought 6 bottles to be delivered back to Melbourne. Delivery was quick.

Wonderful stay in a beautiful old homestead As a group of 12 people, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful old homestead, complete with swimming pool and stunning garden and surrounds.The original home provided a grand formal sitting room and dining room as well as a large, fully equipped kitchen.
The newer section offered a large room with dining table and comfy lounges by the fireplace, connecting to 4 bedrooms, each with ensuite
The beds were comfortable, and the living rooms were large, providing plenty of space for all of us. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Lodge for a family or group of friends - it's a very special place to stay

Great engagement with staff and wine tastings. We as a group of 4 did tastings and were warmly welcomed by Lucy and Jessica, they were knowledgeable about the wines and history, they were joined by Vicki and together as a formidable trio they made our tasting experience a lot of fun and enjoyable. I highly recommend spending a good chunk of your day here.

Booked a 6 course lunch and enjoyed most of it except the last part where everyone else around us get a different dessert combo from us (I was excitedly waiting for the crème brûlée and chocolate cake everyone else seemed to be getting) but I got a cheesecake and yoghurt panna cotta instead. I didn’t like the panna cotta. My favourite dish of the whole lunch was probably the pork and the corn “balls” (dumplings).
Tasting for the wines was not the best. I felt as an Asian, we were all segregated to the one corner. Each new group with someone of Asian descent was automatically added to the same location. It felt a lot like racism. We were trying to justify it initially like they probably thought we would all need to speak in Chinese for the tasting but to be honest, we were speaking in English the whole time to the staff and had no difficulty communicating in it. In fact, we probably will have issues using Chinese as a medium. We just look Chinese I guess. It just didn’t sit right, especially after we noticed all Asians are delegated to our side.

A Unique Tasting Experience with Room for Improvement The tasting itself was fantastic. As a wine lover who has sampled many varieties, experiencing a glass of 100-year-old wine alongside another as old as yourself directly from the barrel is truly unique. However, the misunderstanding with the guide regarding the tour—who initially thought it was only for one of the tastings—greatly affected the overall experience. Expansive vineyards and Estate We did a private tasting at Seppeltsfield Winery and the grounds are simply breathtaking! Hundreds of years old, the family emigrated here in the 1800's and had 21 children that they handed down the vineyard and estates to. Expansive grounds and the wine is quite good. Known for their Shiraz, a must do in the Barossa Valley. This property would be beautiful for a wedding or event. Very upscale and sophisticated. Large bar and tasting area for small to large parties, private or public. Beautiful outdoor seating area as well.read moreread less

We had a great time on our tour at Seppeltsfield's. Susanne was a great guide, showing and telling us all about the family history. The highlight was sampling a 100-year old port from the barrel plus a sample from each of our birth years.
We love port, but it was so interesting to note the differences between the samples of our birth years (2 years apart).
This has been the highlight of our quick Barossa getaway - but we will be back!

Great wines better staff Came here just for a tasting and was blessed to be looked after by some great staff in Jordan and JessDespite their younger years, they were extremely knowledgeable about the wines as well as the history of the winery.
They made our tasting (which was amazing) even better.

Visiting from Sydney - we celebrated a friend's birthday here at the restaurant - Fino and enjoyed a 6 course degustation lunch. There was an option for wine pairing however we just ordered our preferred bottles for the table.
Every dish we were served was spectacular and kept outdoing each meal each time. It was hard to choose a favourite. The option of Lobster Toast was received well by us all.
The staff were outstanding, they were constantly on the rounds of every table making sure everyone was taken care of. No one was left waiting and the kitchen was semi-open and you could see from the dining area just how busy they were as well.
My hat goes off to them for serving such fresh and delicious food to everyone throughout the restaurant at all different times.
The grounds outside are historical and beautifully kept.
Being the oldest vineyard in the region it was an honour to spend some time here.
I could not help but leave with a bottle of Muscat.

Amazing trip and staff! This place was amazing! The land is beautiful, and the buildings were great. We stopped in in the afternoon for a wine tasting, and it was a lovely experience. Worth a visit when in the Barossa. This is a very large complex with the winery, cellar door, galleries and restaurants all on site. Due to the scale of the operation and its popularity with visitors and groups it can get busy however it was still a good experience.

"WOW!! Beautiful Seppeltsfield Estate Barossa Valley" WOW!! How beautiful is Seppeltsfield Estate. My husband and I only had coffee at Octeine which is their onsite small cafe at the entrance (could be so much better) but we also came to have a stroll around the estate. They have an onsite restaurant Fino which looked amazing and also the cellar door.Onsite is a very tasteful shop Vasse Virgin, which is a natural olive oil producer. I spent so much time here sampling their products. The displays and decor are excellent along with the customer service. The stop here is a must when visiting the estate.

Great stop for a quick port tasting. Stopped off for an hour at this beautiful location. A quick peruse of the art gallery was followed by a helpful member of staff being able to arrange a shorter version of their normal wine tasting to focus on their fortified wines. David was extremely welcoming and knowledgable (especially as it was only his second day!) After trying four of their fortified wines, we moved onto their skincare barn and had a great time trying out their products in their huge sink. A quick coffee from their coffee shop and we had to hit the road.
Would highly recommend for a visit, even if you don’t give the wine tasting a go!
For info, the wine tasting was free if you bought some wine. Otherwise, it was advertised at $15 per person (which gave you at least 8 wines… we only tried their 4 fortified wines so don’t quote me!). They also offer a tasting of their 100 year old port for $100!

Our first stop of the day, Nice lovely grounds of Seppeltsfield . When we stepped into the vineyard, it seems like we are transported back in time, Spanish villas and buildings. Lovely to soak in the sun outdoor with a bottle of wine. Their forte is in fortified wines. Did a tasting flight and got to choose 6 wines from the list. Nothing exceptional caught my palate but really enjoyed the grounds.

Worth a stop to have been there This is the quintessential Barossa winery famous for having vintage tawny for every year for over a century. Their wines are better than average but IMO not great for our tastes. however even their cheapest Para tawny is pretty good. The staff in the 'cellar door' were attentive and informative but at the end of the day it is a big operation and not so personal. There are a few other bits in the complex like a gallery, gift shop, etc, restaurant and 'cafe'. The 'cafe' should be an embarrassment as the winery is iconic but the 'producers platter' is not generous and is served in a cardboard tray. Inside seating is more nasty camp ground than cafe; it was 38C when we visited and in contrast most days sitting outside would be 'a moment'. - Give the 'cafe' a wide miss unless you get a platter with eyes wide open. It might win a gong for one of the most uninspiring platters ever from any wine region. On the way you probably will pass the Seppelt family mausoleum. A few steps climb to get to it but nice views.read moreread less

We went here July 10th, 2023. It was a Monday. We went to other places prior to this so by the time we came here, it was closed. But they were kind enough to allow us to take a look around and take photos. I love their gift shop where they sell beauty products made with natural ingredients. You can even try them on. They have samples. If not for the limit on my luggage, I would've bought so many products. They're all so good! I ended up buying their olive oil soap (you won't need to use lotion if you bathe using this), and 2 lip balms. I would put the lip balm on some of my lines and they seem to disappear. Amazing!
Overall, this place is amazing for tours and stuff. If you're visiting Adelaide, make sure to visit this place. ????????

Seppeltsfield is the very first winery that I had the pleasure of visiting in the Barossa Valley, and it represents everything the Barossa has to offer. From the moment you step out of your car in the parking lot until you step back into your car, you are greeted with beautiful sights, sounds, smells, tastes and interactions. The grounds are lovely. We were lucky enough to visit on a beautiful day, so was able to enjoy everything that the grounds had to offer. Inside the winery, they offer tastings at their unique pod stations. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable of the wines, and do their very best to match you with the wines they think you will like. I really loved everything about Seppeltsfield.

Great place to visit, taste wines and explore the beautiful grounds. The restaurant is amazing and worth a try if you're there. The cellar is open for tastings and there's some interesting historical information/tours you can request for too.

Absolutely gorgeous place! Even if you are not a wine lover, it's worth a visit. The architecture is beautiful. There is plenty to see, and the picnic area is huge for family gatherings.

Aaron was a wealth of knowledge and a pleasure to deal with in the tastings. We had a lot of fun, highly recommend.

If you’re going to do one vineyard in the Barossa it would have to be Seppeltsfield. Beautiful grounds showcasing the history of this vineyard since 1855! Lovely to take stroll around, check out the architecture of the beautiful heritage buildings, do a wine tasting, have lunch & browse a couple of art studios & gift stores. Loved the Tawny tasting & cellar tour - definitely worth it.

Memorable Another memorable outing at Seppeltsfield. Young Aaron was very knowledgeable, answered our every question and accommodated requests to set up extra tastings. He even offered to accompany us to the car with an umbrella when it began to rain. First rate service to match the unrivalled port. The ‘66 hangs in the glass like treacle. Beautiful landscaped gardens and great historical story behind the vineyard.
Excellent staff. Very helpful, answered all our questions and knew their stuff.
The wines we tried were great.
Atmosphere of the wine tasting area was nice but not as intimate and comfortable as some of the others we had been to.

Extremely impressive facility, with restaurant, beautiful surroundings and a luxurious vibe.
Personally I just wasn't impressed by the level of the wines.
Though I think a few of the ports were well produced, overall not fond of neither table wines or the ports

Picturesque This is a very beautiful location. The person serving our wines during the tasting was a little gruff and humorless, I didn't feel totally welcome. The wine was nice, but we did taste better wines from the area, so wouldn't put this down as a must when tasting in the area.read moreread less

Support Local I recently had the pleasure of touring the Seppeltsfield winery and it did not disappoint, Coco was a fantastic tour guide, showing me barrels that represented the history of the winery, vines that are older than me and new products that I could not wait to add to my collection.If you are looking for a day trip, then I recommend placing this on your to do list. Ensure to visit the restaurant as well.

Cooper for a Day - Incredible Experience Seppeltsfield is an incredible winery, with some of the best Fortified Wines you can get in Australia, if not the world.A lesser known strength of Seppeltsfield is it's Cooperage.
Andrew, the head Cooper, gave us an experience I'd never forget! He walked us through, step by step, the old methods coopers used to build the barrels. Then after trialing the old method, Andrew and the guys would help us build the barrels in the new method. Surprisingly we actually got to do a lot of the work ourselves, which really gave me the feeling that it's MY barrel, one I made. Not just one I ordered.
With their careful guidance, the completed Barrel also looks just as good as any of the professional built ones they themselves completed. (Probably due to them standing over our shoulder helping us every step of the way). They are only allowed up to 4 (we had 3) and each person had a worker helping them at all times, so I never felt lost!
Anyone who's ever wanted a barrel, I highly recommend this course, Andrew and the guys are incredible in their assistance, knowledge and experience they share, and it was worth every cent.

Wonderful Experience A wine experience to be enjoyed at great value for the cost (but you get that refunded if you buy wine). Our host was a lovely girl who was passionate and knowledgeable about her job and it was interesting to hear the history of the place. Beautiful gardens to be enjoyed and there is so much more to see there than just the winery with local artists/crafter's workshops, cafe and more.Would definitely recommend the visit.

Had a tasting here and the girl who served us was really knowledgeable. The grounds are really well kept and is stunning all round. The drive and walk up is really beautiful covered by palm trees.

Fabulous We were wondering on the drive up the history behind the winery and the port. The history lesson was very interesting. Tasting, smelling and seeing the port from our dates was birth was amazing. 1963 and 1960. Rich, syrupy and bold. Then were able to compare the colour with the other much younger people in our group was also interesting for them and us. We would recommend this great tasting tour.read moreread less

The wine tasting experience was amazing. Although we ended up buying a couple of bottles of wine, the serving could have been done slower. The only other experience we've had was D'Arenberg and they were patient and allowed us to take our time with the tasting.

Unfortunately,we visited in last hour when wine tasting was closed as they had busy day. Visited soap gallery as well. They have nice soap products.. cafeteria was busy too. Enioyed our visit.
