Lovely winery with great wines. We had the tasting platter with wine tasting and everything was delicious! The Barbera and Barbera rose are the stand out wines - absolutely delicious! The waiter was lovely and let me try some of the other wines as well which was great.

Beautiful family owned winery in gorgeous location. We loved the great service and professional and knowledgeable staff. We had a grazing platter teamed with a selection of Mediterranean inspired red and white wine which were all delicious. Outstanding, highly recommend.

And the wines ....what a variety... so difficult to choose a favourite. Many unique and refreshing tastings, made all the more enjoyable by the education of their process to production. Add to that, the carefully chosen platter of locally sourced SA condiments that took each wine to a new level. The delicate brie and herbaceous jam, the salty smoked ham and roasted almonds, a silky hummus and the most delicious olives - all added to the delightful afternoon experience.

A Gem in Mclaren Vale Seven of us had a most delightful afternoon at H&L in McLaren Vale. Under the most capable guidance of venue manager and sommelier Mr. Oliver Budack we were seated in a very comfortable, somewhat intimate setting to enjoy the day. We were treated to many tastings of many wines and purchased some. I chose "Barbera,' a medium bodied wine that I found quite smooth. We all enjoyed three magnificent gourmet grazing platters that went down so well. Our thanks to Harvey and Michele for taking us Western Australians to this gem in McLaren Vale. They even take their dog there.

Fantastic experience today, enjoying the wine tasting & platter for 2. I highly recommend this. Great value, delicious food and wine! The staff were kind & friendly and the explanation of each wine, the region, as well as other international regions was a standout. Not to be missed! Looking forward to another visit in Summer!!! This winery was fantastic. We were the only ones there at the time of our tasting which made it even better. Nicole was very attentive and gave us a great tasting experience. Love supporting the smaller wineries as they have so much to offer.

Hastwell and Lightfoot is a beautifully quirky yet warm and welcoming cellar door, full of family tradition and love. Nicole met us with a friendly smile and took us through the history of the wines. We enjoyed a delicious platter and really enjoyed all the wines on offer. We will be back! Sam and Paul.

We were given a Wine Tasting & Grazing Platter as a gift. The cellar door feels homely & the tasting was comprehensive but not hurried. We tried the delicious Mediterranean style white wines. The Platter used local produce, was very tasty and plenty for 2 hungry people for lunch. We're very happy to support local small batch wineries, whether for a wine tasting session, Platter or even coffee & cake. We'll be back.

We got married at this stunning winery and it was truly the most amazing day of our lives. From our very first visit, we were welcomed with warmth and genuine care—especially by Nicole, the General Manager, who made us feel so at ease and in incredibly safe hands. Every step of the journey was effortless thanks to the incredible team.

Since then, this place has become a special part of our lives. We visit often now for their events such as long, relaxed lunches or to enjoy the amazing wine and generous platters on the weekend. It’s more than just a venue to us now—it feels like a home away from home. The atmosphere is always welcoming and easygoing, and we now consider the Hastwell family as friends. Can’t recommend this place highly enough!

Hastwell and Lightfoot is a hidden gem on the edge of McLaren Vale. Stunning location. Has a great relaxed atmosphere. All the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about their wonderful wines. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Food and platters are delicious. It's now one of our regular places to visit !

It’s been a few moths since we visited BUT I recommend H&L. Wonderful service, friendly and informative. Tasty. Fabulous wines. Great platter of food. Lovely setting. The Italian wines were wonderful. Go visit, you wont be disappointed. Easy bike ride from the caravan park.

Despite being local, we had never visited H&L but took the opportunity after being treated to a voucher for a wine tasting and platter. We were made to feel very welcome, seated on the balcony in the shade of the vines overhead. Nicole took us through the history of the building and the business as we settled in for a tasting of both whites and reds. It’s unusual to go to a winery and find that you enjoy every wine on the list, but I can honestly say that this was the case. Each wine uniquely different but equally impressive. The platter was massive and included delights from around the region, including smoked ham, olives, and onion chutney. We also had the brownies with house made raspberry coulis. Devine! I can’t believe we had never been there but it’s safe to say we will definitely be back. We also joined the small batch society and took home a dozen mixed wines. That’s how good the wines are. A warm, unpretentious, inviting family business sticking to small batch wines which they do exceptionally well. Give this place a try. You won’t regret it.

An exceptional wine tasting experience. Our host was warm, welcoming and exceptionally knowledgeable about the wines and the history of each variety. The wine was superb and we took several bottles home (it was honestly hard to choose!). A lovely setting to spend an afternoon and overall a delightful experience. We will be back soon!

Oliver was so informative! The wines we sampled were a fantastic array of grapes mainly sourced from the Mediterranean. We sampled some varieties not familiar to us and were very pleasantly surprised! Highly recommend a visit.

Great people, welcome Oliver the sommelier. Great platter, always a winner. Great wine, my favourite is Sands of Time, but I have a marked preference for Shiraz. Lovely setting to have a Friday lunch.

A really informative and interesting wine tasting we had! The partner owner was very nice and poured A lotttt of wine for us, we had a limited 60 mins, as we were on the hop on and hop off bus tour. We could've drank the wine a little quicker. But we had a grand time !

A lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Comfortable and well appointed venue in a lovely setting amongst the vines. The tasting was good and the platter very enjoyable. The host Kishan was quite knowledgable and gave great insight and information on the wines, would be more enjoyable without his crudeness though.

We have experienced many wine tasting sessions and if we were to rate this one it’s up there with one of best ones we’ve done and definitely worthy a 5 star rating. Being a smaller family operated cellar door you get a more personal experience and the benefit is a learning experience that is long lasting. On top of this they have a wonderful range of affordable wines and we really enjoyed our long platter. Highly recommend. Definitely will return. Such a warm and wonderful space and we love supporting our smaller producers!

H&L is one of our favourite places in McLaren Vale We took a group of wine-loving friends from interstate for a tasting and platters for lunch. Beyond excellent. Kishan has a unique approach to the tasting experience. Rather than tell you ‘what’ to taste, he teaches you ‘how’ to taste and encourages you to make your own decisions.

The platters are excellent value - loaded with wonderful local products.

And their wines are jolly good as well!

Fabulous If your looking for an amazing relaxed afternoon with delicious wines then you really need to spend some time at this Winery . Firstly Thankyou to Kishan for such a fabulous and Relaxed wine tasting ( we felt like we were in someone’s home sitting by the fire ) Lovely person and the platter was divine and huge. If you like sparkling wine you need to try the Temperanillo/ Rose and my favourite the Temperanillo .. . perfect all round

A Real Delight My husband and I wanted a new experience to celebrate our Anniversary and came upon Hastwell & Lightfoot Cellar Door, a family owned and run boutique winery in Foggo Road, McLaren Vale.
Despite not booking ahead, we received a warm and friendly greeting from the lovely Jemirah and were seated in the cosy room near the fire. We ordered a wonderful platter and bottle of Tempranillo and settled in for the afternoon.
It was Kishan who then spoilt us with his indepth knowledge and wine tasting offerings whilst explaining the history of his winery and surrounding region. He was extremely generous with his time, as was Jemirah, and together they made our experience one to remember.
We would seriously consider booking their new functions venue for our next special event and hope to return many times for that relaxing wine tasting experience which we highly recommend to all.

We came across H&L due to having a Great State Experiences voucher. WOW! We had a great experience alright! The host is welcoming and inquisitive and very knowledgeable. His tasting tips really opened our eyes and taste buds. The whole experience was thoughtful and engaging. The platters were outstanding and we bought a couple of bottles to take away.

Enjoyed a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon with family at this lovely cellar door.
The hosts Kishan and Anisha were super warm and friendly especially in handling our kid.
The wine flight was an awesome experience, quite different from any other we have had before. They knew their wine and were very patient in dealing them out.
The facilities are superb with great indoors and outdoors. Their long cheese board was perfect for us!
Ample parking spaces and a newly renovated function centre makes this an absolute delight.
We bought some bottles of their choicest offering too!

Highly recommended! Absolutely beautiful experience!! This winery is stunning, intimate, and the staff are so knowledgeable, but personable, friendly and approachable too. They stepped us through a beautiful tasting, and their wines are stunning. I'm not normally a white wine drinker, but their Fiano is divine! The platter we had was amazing and full of local produce.
